Texas Christian University (abbreviated TCU) occurs as private, coeducational university located in Fort Worth, Texas. TCU is affiliated sustaining a Disciples of Christ. Its mascot is the horned frog. Its school colors come purple and white.

History
Brothers Addison and Randolph Clark founded the AddRan Male & Female Academy inside 1873 after returning from either service in the Civil War. A number 1 co-ed learning institution college in the Southwest (a remarkably progressive step for even a period while virtually all schools were for either men or women solely), the Academy's number 1 class involved xiii listed students.
A school was established around Thorp Springs, Texas, but financial difficulties resulted around the move to Waco from 1895 to 1910. A academy was renamed Texas Christian University within 1902. To honor a institution brothers, one of its schools is known as a AddRan College of Humanties and Social Sciences.
When a fire at the Waco campus within 1911, the University relocated to its todays page at Fort Worth, where it however thrives now.

Athletics
TCU competes inside NCAA sports as The member of Division We (We-A within football). Presently in the Mountain West Conference, TCU's record stands at 6-1. TCU won a National Championship in football in two 1935 & 1938, & was an extended period member of the previous Southwest Conference (which also involved Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor, SMU, Houston, Arkansas, and Rice) until that conference was disbanded after the 1995 season with the formation of the Big XII. TCU so moved to the Western Athletic Conference, shifted to Conference USA inside 2001, and moved over again in 2005 to the Mountain West Conference. A school's best known jock were football players Sammy Baugh and Davey O'Brien for whom the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award is named; among currently-active athletes, the best-known TCU product is another NFL star, LaDainian Tomlinson, who is the starting running back for the San Diego Chargers and in 2004 signed a 6 year, $60 million contract making him the highest paid running back in NFL history.
